Curriculum

Overview

The national curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject.

As a primary school we educate children aged from 4 to 11 covering the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Curriculum planning is topic based on two and four cycles. This avoids duplication and allows the children their full curriculum entitlement.

The mixed age, mixed ability nature of both classes instils, within the children, a wholesome regard for each other. Their curriculum is enriched by many off site educational visits. These are planned to complement curriculum topics.

Curricular achievement is closely monitored. We regularly review our curriculum to ensure it’s up to date and relevant to our ever changing world.
