Vision and Values

Our Vision

‘Be the salt of the earth and the light of the world’.

Matthew 5:13-16

Through high‑quality education and rich, inspiring experiences, we equip all pupils to become compassionate, responsible global citizens—ready to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, making a positive difference wherever they go.

Our values:

Love, Courage, Forgiveness, Service

Our vision and values guide and inspire our whole school community and is theologically rooted in the words of Jesus from Matthew 5:13-16.
“You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world.”
These words remind us that every child has the potential to make the world brighter, kinder, and better through their actions, choices, and character.

Our School Vision

Through high‑quality education and rich, inspiring experiences, we equip all pupils to become compassionate, responsible global citizens—ready to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, making a positive difference wherever they go.

This vision captures our commitment not only to academic excellence but also to nurturing the whole child—helping them to grow in character, confidence, and compassion.

To support our vision, there are four core values that shape our teaching, behaviour expectations, worship, and community life:

  • Love – showing kindness, empathy, and respect to all
  • Courage – doing what is right, even when it is difficult
  • Forgiveness – learning from mistakes and offering fresh starts
  • Service – helping others and contributing to the common good

These values reflect the heart of our school ethos and are embedded in daily life at Gillamoor CE Primary School.

After consultation with Staff, Parents, Pupils and Governors a new Vision was written which we felt truly reflected our rural, caring school community.
